Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 · Applies to gcx.earth

Your privacy is important to us. GCX respects the privacy of visitors to gcx.earth regarding any information collected. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Website visitors

GCX collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that browsers and servers typically make available: browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. We use this to better understand how visitors use the website, and may publish aggregate usage trends that do not identify individuals.

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information you provide directly — for example through our contact, demo request, maturity assessment, gated content download, newsletter and training enquiry forms. This may include your name, designation, organisation, email address and phone number.

If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, we receive the phone number you message us from, your WhatsApp profile name and the contents of your messages. That conversation is carried and stored by WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) under their own terms and privacy policy, in the same way an email to us passes through your email provider. We use it only to answer your enquiry. You are never required to use WhatsApp — email, telephone and the contact form reach us equally well.

Website usage information is collected through cookies and analytics tools (see section 11).

3. How we use your information

Personal information is used only for the purpose for which it was collected, and may be retained where required for legal or research purposes. Specific uses include:

  • Responding to your enquiry or delivering the content or service you requested
  • Identity verification and security confirmation
  • Prevention of fraud, crime and money laundering
  • Market research and statistical analysis
  • Audit and record-keeping purposes
  • In connection with legal proceedings

4. Form submissions and processing

Forms on this website are processed by our hosting provider (Netlify) and delivered to the GCX team. Submission data is stored securely and used solely to respond to your request. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

5. Disclosure of information

Personal information may be shared with service providers involved in delivering our products or services. GCX maintains agreements with these parties to ensure compliance with POPIA. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where necessary to protect our rights.

Some service providers are located outside South Africa. The principal processors we use are:

  • Netlify, Inc. (United States) — website hosting and form submission processing
  • Google LLC (United States) — website analytics via Google Analytics

Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa, GCX ensures that the recipient is subject to laws, binding corporate rules or agreements that provide an adequate level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, in accordance with section 72 of the Act. By using this website and submitting information through it, you consent to such transfers.

6. Information security

GCX takes reasonable measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, use, alteration or destruction. Our security practices cover physical security, computer and network security, access controls, secure communications, retention and disposal, and incident response. Third-party contractors who receive personal information must agree to equivalent protection.

7. Your rights: access and correction

You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or request that it be updated, corrected or deleted, by contacting us using the details below. We will require proof of identity before making changes. Access requests may incur a legally allowable fee.

Complaints under POPIA may be lodged with the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.

8. Information Officer

GCX's designated Information Officer in terms of POPIA is Sandra Ririe. All requests for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and any complaints regarding the processing of personal information, may be directed to the Information Officer at info@gcx.co.za or +27 21 702 4058.

9. Definition of personal information

"Personal information" carries the meaning given in POPIA: information relating to an identifiable, living natural person, and where applicable an identifiable existing juristic person, including residential, postal and email addresses.

10. Links to external websites

This website contains links to external sites not operated by GCX. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. GCX assumes no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of third-party sites.

11. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the website is used. These tools set cookies that collect standard internet usage data. We may also use remarketing services (such as Google and LinkedIn) to show relevant messages to previous website visitors; third-party vendors use cookies for interest-based advertising subject to their own privacy policies. You can manage advertising preferences via Google Ad Settings, and control cookies through your browser settings.

Your choice. Analytics and attribution cookies are only set if you accept them when first visiting the site. You can change your decision at any time using the cookie preferences link, also available in the footer of every page. Declining does not affect your ability to use the website or submit forms.

12. Aggregated statistics

GCX may collect statistics about visitor behaviour and display or provide them publicly without disclosing personally-identifying information.

13. Call recording

GCX may record calls and retain them for quality and research purposes.

14. Changes to this policy

GCX may update this privacy policy from time to time at its sole discretion. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
